NOSMO is a non-profit, non-commercial, non-smoking social group for people aged +40.

NOSMO was formed in 1987 by a group of four friends. The first program of activities gave one function per week.

As NOSMO celebrated its 21st birthday in 2008 a dedicated group of between 10 and 15 "volunteer organisers" coordinate at least two functions  at the weekend and perhaps one midweek.

NOSMO prides itself on offering members the widest choice of activities of any current Sydney based social group. As well as weekly dinners, periodic theatre nights, members have participated in the following:

2-Up on Anzac Day, art gallery visits, book club, bush dances, charades, crab racing, drag night, fondue, gypsy fortune telling, horse riding, Imax theatre, improv comedy, indoor rock climbing, kayaking, lawn bowling, life drawing, Luna Park, mini golf, open air cinema, poets picnic, politics in the pub, Shakespeare by the sea, short film festival, slide night, squash, ten pin bowling, tennis, travel night, TV show audience, Yuletide, & Yum Cha

The variety of functions is testament not only to the imagination of the organisers, but any member who wishes to put forward ideas at the committee meeting held on the first Monday of February, May, August and November at a convenient city location. This short meeting is always followed by a relaxing drink and meal, so why not consider coming along next quarter to decide whether you would like to be involved in running this highly successful social club.

New members are also encouraged to consider organising a function. You will be offered as much assistance as possible to make their first time experience hassle free.

NOSMO is a friendly group to share your interests run by the members for the members.

NOSMO is a true social group for singles and couples, not to be confused with a matchmaking service of any type. Newcomers will find a relaxed atmosphere, with no profit making commercial pressures.

If a function appeals, just call the organiser listed alongside the description to book in, or if you require a little information about the particular activity.

Our suggestion is that you come along once or twice and we think you will find that the club is what you have been looking for.

There is no hefty joining fees so you have nothing to lose. You just pay the usual charge of $5 when you attend a function - this money goes towards the cost of printing, mailing, advertising, insurance and phone calls.

Members only have to attend one function per quarter to stay on the mailing list.
